GC&E Service Project

Make a New Friend & Put Sustainability into Action

The GC&E Service Project brings students, educators, and professionals together for a hands-on day of community engagement and environmental stewardship in San Antonio, reflecting the conference’s commitment to translating green chemistry from theory into practice. Through activities such as restoration, pollution prevention, and sustainability-focused projects, participants will contribute to tangible, positive outcomes that support healthier ecosystems and communities.

Networking is an important component of the GC&E Conference. Many attendees have noted that the conference is the perfect size to make new connections with a diverse group of people all focused on sustainable chemistry solutions. Take advantage of the daily breakfasts and twice-daily networking breaks to further you personal, professional and organizational goals. We also encourage attendees to visit the GC&E Expo during networking breaks.

This year’s Opening Award Ceremony & Dinner marks a special milestone as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference and honor recipients of ACS GCI sustainability and green chemistry awards, including educators, students, and Pharmaceutical Roundtable awardees.

The GC&E Start‑up Pitch Showcase highlights innovative ventures developing green and sustainable technologies with the potential to transform industry and infrastructure. From advanced biomaterials to circular economy solutions, founders deliver concise pitches to investors, industry leaders, and technical experts, while attendees gain early insight into emerging technologies poised to reshape supply chains, product design, and environmental performance.

 

GC&E Poster Session & Reception

The central GC&E Poster Session allows attendees to hear poster presenters share their research while enjoying snacks and beverages.

Student presenters will be visited by Student Poster Competition judges during this time. The best student posters will be honored on Thursday morning before the keynote.

This luncheon invites all participants, including Black, Latino, Indigenous, and other underrepresented groups, to join a dedicated event designed to foster a supportive and inclusive environment within the scientific community. It serves as a welcoming platform for networking, dialogue, and community-building, where every attendee is encouraged to participate and share their perspectives.

Storytelling Event: Personal Stories of Discovery

The human side of discovery

Wednesday, June 17, 2026, 5:00–6:00 p.m.

Everyone has a story. Even, or maybe especially, scientists. From seasoned storytellers to those who are still a little “green,” join us for an hour of sustainable stories rooted in scientific and personal discovery.

In this one‑hour program, five members of the GC&E community will share short, true stories crafted through a guided coaching process. Expect an engaging blend of humor, heart, and insight as storytellers reflect on the moments that shaped their scientific paths and themselves.

Come ready to listen, laugh, and connect through the human side of discovery.
